"La Lettre" Wins Best Cinematography!
We have been working on a ballet art film for several months titled La Lettre (The Letter). The film debuted at the Rebel FREE4ALL Film Festival at Pollack Tempe Cinemas on August 11th, 2011. La Lettre won for Best Cinematography! This was our first project of this type and I think we will be doing more of this in the future. This was a great learning process for our studio and I think we blew away most of the competition with the beauty and quality of our imagery. Our film starred Katelyn Konderik, who was also our choreographer, along with Arianna Lee, Salem Ramirez, and Julia Ruiz. Our young dancers came to us via the School of Ballet AZ. The music was performed by Dr. Lynne Haeseler and was recorded just for the film. The pieces used are the Chopin Valse and Etude in Eb. If you are dancer and would be interested in working with us in a future film project, please contact us by email with your information. Note: We have a limited number of La Lettre DVD's and film posters available in our studio.
Here is a review of La Lettre by William Pierce, Phoenix Indie Films Examiner, August 13th, 2011
La Lettré – Allen Patrou
"A great film to begin the evening with, Patrou presents a very well shot figure study of a ballerina (Katelyn Konderik) in a wide range of moods and colors. Exquisitely lit and exposed, the dancers seamless transitions from the inorganic indoors to the dreamy, misty and colorful outdoors (Boyce Thompson Arboretum) are smooth and relaxing. The prop and dialog (“Oh!”) almost ruined it for me, as this dancing visual delight needed no extra topping.
